After tilling the soil, special grass has been planted and that covers now most of the ground. Some fruit trees have been planted and started to bear fruit: mango, passion fruit, guava, lime, orange and banana. We cultivate several smaller fruits, like berries, as well. Along the fence we grow flowering plants like bougainvillea, in different colours. Around the house we have several herbs and spices, including lemon grass.
Bukoba area receives usually a good amount of rain. The garden has developed quickly in a pleasant place to walk and stay. To enhance privacy, the fence has been covered with hand-woven mats of palm leaves. Work on plastering of the wall around the compound was started, but not yet completed.
